Last night the Original Costume Museum Society put on a gala dinner fundraiser and silent auction: "Putting on the Glitz: Hollywood Style 1916- 1946". This event was sold out and it was tons of fun to see the audience dressed in their very own vintage garments. Some as old as 100 years old.
Ivan Sayers has been collecting historical garments for over 40 years. His personal collection of vintage and historical costumes is vast and we were very lucky to see some of the rarest and best of his collection. As he liked to put it, "Ok, I'm showing off with this piece". Each dress had a story about who wore it and how he came to be the owner. His wit and humor alone are reason to see him at the various events put on by the Original Costume Museum Society. Their goal is to establish a museum dedicated to costume and textiles here in Vancouver.
